Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to our heroes out there. What an unusual time, we hope you are keeping well and safe. We look forward to seeing you soon!! As winter comes to an end, we all need a little spring sunshine. We are hoping for some good weather to get back into the gardens and start planting.

Despite the circumstances - we have been busy at The Old Tin Shed decorating, painting, restocking and restaging inventory in anticipation to re-open soon. One of our new projects is to finish a paint studio in the basement for classes, open houses, private parties and pop-up rentals. It is finished and waiting to be used!! In the meantime, we are here every day except Sunday for remote shopping and porch pick-ups between the hours of 11am and 2pm, or by appointment. Follow us on-line, Facebook, Instagram or check out the website theoldtinshed.com for a variety. We have been posting videos and live chats to keep connected and to showcase what is available in store. If you need some help, don’t hesitate to call and we can chat through options.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us by shopping virtually. Don’t forget, we wrap and ship to make is as simple as possible.

New stock has arrived for Spring and Summer and we have our full line of Cutloose linen, Neon Buddha, Leopards and Roses, lots of rusty garden decor, iron, candles, jewellery, and so much more. We can’t wait to show you all. When we do get to open, we will have one-way aisles and practice safe distancing as per the government guidelines. Watch for the next stage of opening! We hope to see you all soon.

Stay safe. Cheers from Kathryn & Geoffery and all of us at The Old Tin Shed.

The Most Wonderful Time of Year

By Geoffrey Webber

It is the most wonderful time of the year! It is a time of giving and reflecting on your accomplishments. Geoffrey and I, thank you for all your support and for everyone who has dropped in to visit us at The Old Tin Shed over the last 6 months. We feel like we are settling into our new routine and just love living in the area. We look forward to the holidays and wish you all the best.

I have been happily decorating the store for Christmas, and continue adding new things, so make sure you stop in to see what's new. We were thrilled that our holiday décor was featured in Cottage Lifestyle magazine. If you haven't seen it, check it out by clicking on the link: https://issuu.com/cottagecountryfreemagazine/docs/cottage_christmas2019_web/16

Our paint studio in the basement of the store is coming along nicely, and we hope to have classes organized and available in early 2020. We will advertise on the website and social media when we do. The studio is a great open space, so let us know what you would like to use it for, and we will see what we can get organized!

We are on the Christmas countdown now, the store is filled with magic and you just never know what treats we have in store for you! Leading up to Christmas, we will have weekly feature items and sales, so keep watching on Facebook for what's happening. If you are stuck for ideas, our team are experts on helping with finding just the right thing.

The Old Tin Shed team has worked hard all year and to ensure everyone gets some rest and family time, we will be closed December 25, 26, and 27th. When we re-open in December 28th, we will have lots of year-end sales all that week.

Hope to see you soon! Merry Christmas....I just can't say it enough!

Cheers, Kathryn

The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter

Careful what books you read, they may just inspire you to turn your life upside down like Geoffrey and I decided to do this winter! After reading Debbie Travis’ Design Your Next Chapter, we started talking about what we aspired to do now that the four kids were all off living their own lives. Retirement seemed a long way away, and we were certainly looking to embrace our northern life as soon as possible. Corporate life was stressful, and included long hours – we knew we were both ready for something new. Usually, we just talk a lot and don’t follow through on our “big” ideas, however this time was different.

Once we looked at buying The Old Tin Shed, the idea just stuck and we got more and more excited that this was something we could do together and do well. It was a huge leap of faith and required us to be very, very brave. But what a journey, we are so excited to live in the area and work at something we both love. I have always been a creative designer at heart, moving furniture, painting everything and anything, and taking on projects. Many of these projects did
include the engineering mind and heavy tools of Geoffrey to help actualize them, so this is nothing new for us after 27 years of marriage.

We know we have a lot to learn, but the Whiteheads have been amazing as they transferred over their legacy to us. The Old Tin Shed staff is also a dynamic team that keep the store running smoothly and we couldn’t do this without them.

We are celebrating our 1 month of new ownership this Canada weekend and we hope you come around and introduce yourself as we settle into our new life in Bancroft.

Happy Canada Day!! Enjoy with family and friends
